RECIPES!

It's natural and safe:
Our family at Grassfields Cheese provides foods that are safe and natural, just like God intended. We are certified Organic and our Organic cheeses are now available!
  Raw Milk:
Raw milk cheese has a lot more flavor than pasteurized cheese and it has two to three times the amount of digestible vitamins and minerals than pasteurized cheese.

Family Farm:
Our cheese is made on our family farm by our own family. We have only a few part-time employees who are not related to the family, making it a true farm family. In this way also, we can ensure that our small cheese-making business and all buildings are kept clean and safe.

Pasture based farming:
Our cows spend 99% of their lives outside, keeping them cleaner and contributing to good health. When cows are grazing outside, they are harvesting their own feed and spreading their own manure, the way God intended. From their birth to their death, our cows feed on fresh organic grass the majority of the year (because we live in Michigan). They are supplemented nutritionally with small amounts of organic grain and minerals. Their milk is certified organic and their meat free of hormones, steroids, and antibiotics.

Variety:
Our organic artisan cheeses: along with the original Gouda, we also make Edam, a low-fat Gouda which is made with skim milk; four spiced Goudas - Country Dill, Onion 'n Garlic, Chili Cheese, and Leyden (with cumin seeds); Lamont Cheddar, and Fait Gras (a high cream cheddar) - all of which are certified organic. We have recently added a (non-organic) raw aged goats' milk cheddar. We also offer natural grass-fed meats: beef, pork, chicken, turkey, and eggs from pastured chickens.

For any interested in fresh milk, you may go HERE.

We use only a portion of our milk for cheese. The majority of our milk goes to Organic Vally, a farmer-owned co-op (of which we are a part), which then bottles the milk and sells it under the Stoneyfield and Organic Valley labels in Michigan. For more information about Organic Valley and where to find our milk in stores, go HERE.
The Michigan Cheesemakers Cooperative is dedicated to the production of artisanal and farmstead cheese. Cheeses made in the “hand” of Michigan are just that – crafted primarily by hand, adhering to the standards of each of our cheese makers’ art. We at Grassfields are proud to be part of this great organization.

Our Reason for Farming:
"You [LORD Jesus] care for the land and water it; You enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so You have ordained it. You drench its furrows and level its ridges; You soften it with showers and bless its crops. You crown the year with Your bounty, and Your carts overflow with abundance. The grasslands of the desert overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness. The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing." Psalm 65:9-13
